October 5th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Despite being as pasty Irish Catholic as a girl can get, I got my nickname, Marigold, from the Day of the Dead tradition. My neighbors and best friends growing up were Mexican immigrants who took great pride in their heritage. Every October they’d put my green thumb to good use growing Marigolds for November’s celebration; eventually the name just stuck. While Mexican Sugar Skulls offer a varierty of wonderful products, my favorite would have to be the Tiffany-style Charm Bracelet. It’s a lovely design, but it’s the Marigold charm that sold me. Thanks for the opportunity!

This would be really great to make with my daughter, as her dad is from Guatemala and the Dia de los Muertos is also a special day there as well and celebrated with processions and offerings to the departed. The Toluca sugar skulls are beautiful, and the designs are amazing!

I like the Sugar Skull’s Pink Rose Earrings from the Mexican Sugar Skulls site, with silver and roses, so beautifully executed! I was also surprised that I truly liked the tote (given the subject matter) as it has a very light and flowery, colorful look, and learning how to make sugar skulls from the kit (for either Halloween or the Day Of The Dead) would be great!

The Day of the Dead is such a special holiday and I am really glad that you have this giveaway as well as such awesome prizes. Thanks SO much for showing us how to make the sugar skulls. They look pretty easy (even for us grownups!)
Good luck to all:)
