Family Friendly Holiday Events in the Bay Area
Friday, November 21st, 2008There’s lots to do with your kids this holiday season. The ODC dance troop performs the Velveteen Rabbit at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts . This holiday tradition is based on the classic children’s tale by Margery Williams and the ODC adaption includes narration, dancing and music. The show is suitable for children 4 and older.
Another holiday institution is the San Francisco Ballet Nutcracker.
This performance will require a longer attention span and the tickets aren’t cheap, but the production is magical.
The San Francisco Symphony also has several performances that kids will love including Peter and the Wolf and the Soul Children of Chicago in a Gospel Christmas.
Even though we rarely see snow on the ground here in the Bay Area, there are lots of places to take your kids ice skating during the holidays. Skate under the big Christmas tree at The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square, with the animals at the San Francisco Zoo, or at the Holiday Ice Rink at Justin Herman Plaza.
